Want to live in a democracy?

Would you like to see California and New York always decide our who our president will be?

What if a majority of people in the United States decided that slavery isn’t such a bad idea after all?

What if enough people decided that the mere mention of God in a public school was punishable by fines or even jail time?

What if most people voted to remove children from homes where the parents smoked pipes, or fed them over the allowed limit of sugar or fat?

What if most people cared so much about individual rights that they voted to outlaw self-defense to prevent harm to an attacker?

Sound crazy? Think about how close we are to these very scenarios – even the slavery one. What do you call it when a person must work and give the fruits of their labors to someone else?

Democracy is the destruction of individual rights. It is the tyranny of the majority. It is how Hitler’s evil spread across Germany. It is two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for lunch.

As it stands now in the United States of America, our God-given individual rights are in severe jeopardy. We’ve seen how the Constitution is ignored every minute of every day by our government to demand our slave labor, oppress us with ridiculous regulation that they themselves don’t comply with, and interfere in the most miniscule aspects of our personal lives.

One of the protections of our individual rights is in imminent danger of being dismantled. It is the Electoral College.

As always, this situation is directly attributable to the appalling lack of history and civics in public education.

Our children are tomorrow’s rulers. If you want to be governed by a mob of uneducated people who are untempered by historical wisdom, then by all means, ignore the dire state of liberty in this country. Otherwise, for the sake of our unalienable rights and the future of human liberty, take your kids out of public school. Take responsibility and “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

I’ll have more to say about home schooling in a future post.
